A Montclair man was charged after allegedly hacking into a Fort Lee condominium’s communication system and sending hundreds of residents threatening, bias-filled emails, authorities said.
Nicholas M. Scarano, 23, of Montclair, was arrested on Friday, Aug. 15, one day after the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit was notified of a mass email containing bias and threatening language, Prosecutor Mark Musella said Saturday.

A 32-year-old man was killed in a high-speed crash in the Hudson Valley Friday, Aug. 15, police said.
At approximately 8:45 p.m., troopers out of State Police Montgomery responded to a one-car collision on State Route 416 in the village of Montgomery where they say Ryan D. Tucker, of Bloomingburg, had been heading west at a high rate of speed.
Tucker, in a 2016 Honda, failed to negotiate a right-hand turn through a yield sign onto Union Avenue, where it subsequently struck several trees off the west shoulder, state police said.

A 13-year-old swimmer drowned off a Jersey Shore beach Friday evening, Aug. 15, despite rescue efforts, police said.
At approximately 6:36 p.m., the Belmar Police Department received several 911 calls reporting a swimmer in distress off the 8th Avenue beach, police said.
