UPTON, Mass. – Several Massachusetts schools, including Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School, will host a free workshop Sunday, Jan. 27 to assist prospective college students and their families in completing the free application for federal student aid.
The workshop is open to any student who registers at www.FAFSADay.org. Any student seeking assistance needs to submit the form to apply for federal, state and institutional financial aid.
Valley Tech will have computer access, online filing and experts from the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority available for all attendees. The program begins at 1 p.m. on the Valley Tech campus, 65 Pleasant St., Upton. A Spanish translator will be available.
Students and parents (if the student was born on or after Jan. 1, 1990) should bring: their FAFSA PIN from www.pin.edu.gov, their Social Security numbers, their driver’s license numbers, their most recent federal tax returns, their most recent W-2 or year-end pay stub, records of untaxed income, their bank statements, their business and investment records, and their Alien Registration Card if they are not U.S. citizens.
Every high school senior, college student, and adult student who will be attending college during the 2013-2014 academic year needs to complete the application in order to apply for any type of financial aid.
The program is sponsored by the Massachusetts Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, MEFA, American Student Assistance and USA Funds.
