NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. - The 15th annual Valley Home & Business Expo hosted by the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Northbridge High School Field House, Linwood Avenue, Whitinsville.
A variety of events are planned, including live entertainment and new interactive family activities.
The Best in the Valley Chowder Festival, sponsored by Millbury Federal Credit Union, is back with People’s Choice and Judged categories.
Defending champion The Valley Café, Bridge Street Bistro, Red Rock Grille, Pleasant Valley Country Club, Lydia Taft House and Bushel n’ Peck will compete from noon to 2 p.m. with tastings to qualify for the yearlong bragging rights as the “Best in the Valley.”
Celebrity judges will choose the tastiest winner in the judged event. Bring your appetite and choose a winner in the People’s Choice category.
The Blackstone Valley Education Foundation will be on hand throughout the expo to discuss financing for college and higher learning programs and partnerships.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the chamber booth, Valley Insurance Partners will answer health insurance questions and discuss the new health insurance coop offered through the chamber.
New this year is the Blackstone Valley Healthy Life Styles Pavilion. You can check blood pressure, find out about diabetes and other health issues from the Milford Regional Medical Center staff, learn weight control techniques, be assessed by a chiropractor and find out about vitamin and herbal remedies, skin care, senior care and senior assistance. You can also view new equipment to allow elders to safely stay in their homes.
MRA Sports will present programs for staying in shape and provide information on fitness, boot camps and triathlons.
Other highlights include exhibitors’ raffles; the Northbridge Police Department Kids ID Program; “Freddy,” the Northbridge Fire Department’s Talking Fire Truck; “Finz,” the mascot of the Worcester Sharks hockey team; food samples; face painting by Andi the Clown; Bobo the Clown’s balloon sculptures; the Ironstone Petting Zoo sponsored by Savers Bank; Southwick Zoo’s baby animals; and more.
